  • Responding to ill or injured swimmers in water or on land

What is the training format?

Training consists of online sessions and in-water skills training. This H2Owls class includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid.

To determine whether you need to complete the in-water portion of this course, please see the chart below for requirements based on your current certification status:

How long does it take to complete the course?

The blended learning course takes between 7 to 10 hours to complete. The skills sessions depend upon how many students in the class and how quickly the content is learned.

Are there any requirements or skills necessary?

Requirements for taking this course are as follows. You must be:

  • 15 years old on or before the final day of class
  • comfortable in chest deep water

*After registering for this course, you will receive an email with a link to the online course. The online portion must be completed prior to the skills session being taken.

What certifications will I receive?

This course helps to fulfill the Coaches Safety Education requirement for USA Swimming and YMCA USA with a 2 year certification.
